“What Makes Music Spooky”

In third grade, there are two tests for each belt. One of the tests is being able to play the song on the precorder. The other test is written and is over the musical notes, rests, pitches, and fingerings required for each level.

Notated music is considered a language. Each level of Precorder Karate reinforces the previous and also adds new notes and musical concepts. Through practicing and learning these fun songs, students become musically literate. As with reading literacy, musical literacy helps to provide life-long ability to make and enjoy music!
