Library is a place for learning and experimenting

Students at Coal City Elementary School are learning all about Martin Luther King Jr., the online library computer system (OPAC) and continuing to monitor "Pumpkin Jack", the library science experiment.

Earlier in the year school librarian Mrs. Erhard read the students the book "Pumpkin Jack" by Will Hubbell and they began their own pumpkin experiment.  The hope is Jack will continue to decompose throughout the year and sprout a plant for them to grow new pumpkins from.

The students  are also looking forward to the Scholastic Book Fair February 5-12 and participating in some reading incentive programs throughout the remainder of the school year.
