Parents/Guardians,
Coal City School District is aware of an unsubstantiated threat circulating on social media regarding the safety of schools. While no credible evidence has been found to support this threat, we take the safety of students and staff at schools very seriously. As such, we are currently investigating the origins of this social media message and we have been communicating closely with local authorities regarding the social media post.
The district is in constant communication with the Coal City Police Department and their officers continue to visit schools regularly. You will see an increased police presence around our buildings as an extra precaution.
